43 Halloween Dress to Impress Ideas

As a mom of 3 girls, I have learned first hand that Halloween is not just a day.

It is a month long event with a lot of planning and thought put into every detail.

There are pumpkin patches to visit, apple cider doughnuts to eat, and Halloween costumes to plan.

My girls start thinking about their Halloween costumes in August. It is a big decision and one that is not made lightly.

I have been everything from a witch to a pumpkin and everything in between. This year my girls have decided to go with a theme and all be one thing.

I am not going to reveal what it is because it is a surprise but I will give you a hint. It is something you see every day.

1.The Addams Family

This costume is perfect for a family with three kiddos! We love the idea of dressing up your family as the characters from The Addams Family.

This family nailed their Gomez, Morticia, and Wednesday costumes. And how sweet is that little baby as Cousin It?

2.The Wizard of Oz

This is one of my favorite family costumes! It’s so easy to throw together, and it’s a classic.

I made my daughter’s Dorothy costume using a blue gingham dress and a pair of sparkly red shoes.

I found the red basket at a craft store and added a gingham bow. I made my son’s scarecrow costume using a flannel shirt, overalls, and a straw hat.

I added raffia to the hat and cuffs of the overalls. I made my lion costume using a tan dress and adding a fur vest and a furry hood.

I found the Tinman costume at a costume shop.

3.Alice in Wonderland

You can’t go wrong with a classic! This Alice in Wonderland costume is a great option for teens who want to dress up but also want to keep it simple.

Plus, who doesn’t want an excuse to wear a big, fluffy skirt?

This costume comes with everything you need to transform into Alice,

but you can always add a pair of tights and a petticoat if you want to add some extra volume to the skirt.

4.The Three Little Pigs

When I saw this idea on Pinterest, I knew I had to try it! I mean, come on, how cute is this? And it’s perfect for a group of three friends.

I love that the costumes are all different, but they all go together so well.

I found my dress at Target, and I’m sure you can find similar ones at your local store.

I also found my ears and tail at Target. These are simple, easy, and fun!

5.The Cat in the Hat

You can’t go wrong with a classic! The Cat in the Hat is a timeless story that makes for a great costume.

I found this one on Amazon and it comes with everything you need to get the look.

I love the attention to detail and how the hat even has a cute little bow on it!

I also found a really cute Cat in the Hat dress costume that would be perfect for a family costume!

It’s so fun to dress up as different characters from the same story.

6.Little Red Riding Hood

The most adorable little red riding hood you ever did see! This costume is so cute and would be perfect for a little girl or a grown woman.

You can also make this costume with things you already have in your closet.

Just grab a red dress, a red hooded cape, and some black boots and you’re good to go!

7.The Incredibles

Why be one superhero when you can be a whole family of them? This fun theme is great for families of four,

but you can also add on other characters for larger families. The best part? You can buy the costumes for this one! No need to stress about DIYing anything.

8.The Flintstones

If you’re looking for a group costume, you can’t go wrong with The Flintstones. This classic TV show has a variety of characters to choose from.

This is also a great family costume. You can have the parents dress up as Fred and Wilma, and the kids can be Pebbles and Bam-Bam.

If you have a pet, you can even dress them up as Dino!

9.Beauty and the Beast

This is a great costume for a family with young kids. Mom and dad can be Beauty and the Beast while the little ones can be their favorite characters.

I love the idea of dad being the Beast and mom being Belle. You can even have your little one be Mrs. Potts!

10.Peter Pan

I always love the idea of a family dressing up as characters from a book or movie. This Peter Pan family is spot on!

This costume is also perfect if you have a baby. You can dress them up as Tinkerbell!
